09/29/07 -Contest Results

Thank you all so much for your submissions!  They were very creative and I loved them!

It’s now time to announce the winner!  As with my other products, I wanted a name that accurately described what the product was used for.  (I am not allowed to legally make “claims” because the products haven’t been evaluated by the FDA, so I must depend on the product name and customer comments to say what the product is good for!)

With that in mind, the winner is -

“Moisturize Me: Heel & Elbow Balm”

Congratulations Amy!  Please e-mail me at southernsuds@gmail.com to select your soap!

I do have to give an honorable mention to Kirky and her submission of “Balm Shell” - as it was so clever!  Kirky, please e-mail me with your info and you’ll also recieve a little gift from me.

Thanks for all who entered!  Feel free to subscribe to my blog so you’ll hear when I have openings for testers and when I’m holding other naming contests for new products.

-Naming Contest!

I am discovering that I am the least creative person when it comes to naming products!  So this time I’m going to invite you to help!

This nameless product could be considered a balm or a “stick”.  It is rubbed on dry heels and elbows to moisturize.  Packaged in a really cool twist-up tube, it weighs in at 0.6 ounces.  It contains mango butter, beeswax, cocoa butter, almond oil, calendula infused hazelnut oil, vitamin e oil, lavender essential oil, peppermint essential oil, eucalyptus essential oil, aloe vera powder, and granulated sea kelp.

To help you along, here’s what it looks like unlabeled.

The actual product is a creamy color with flecks from the kelp and aloe vera powder.  No, it’s not deodorant!  LOL

*** Note:  This has a lightly herbal scent.  The butters do not lend any scent.  The fragrance is from the lavender, peppermint and eucalyptus essential oils. ***

So here’s how it will work - post your suggestion as a comment!  I’ll select a winner Friday morning.  The winner will get a soap of their choice, a mocha lip balm, and sample sizes of emu healing balm, lotion and body fragrance.

09/27/07 -Pumpkin Spice and Pine Tar…

Here are my two latests batches.  The first is a specialty soap containing pine tar.  Pine tar is supposed to be useful in treating psoriasis, eczema, and other skin conditions.  I need TWO more testers for this soap and the testers need to have a skin condition.  This is scented with peppermint and eucalyptus essential oils - and the pine tar scent comes through as well.

I also made my first batch for autumn.  PUMPKIN SPICE.  YUM!  More spice than pumpkin right now, but the fragrance may change as it cures.  It has real sweet potatoes in it (I didn’t have pumpkin on hand…) and ground nutmeg.

I’m still working on my swirling technique in these new slab molds, but it’s improving!

I have a couple of custom batches to finish and then will be working on more fall fragrances - hot apple pie, ginger souffle, macaroon, cranberry, and turkish mocha.

Soap Happy,
